In 2019, I became a beekeeper alongside my oldest daughter. What started as an opportunity to learn something new quickly became a passion for honeybees, pollinators, and caring for God’s creation.
Keeping bees has given me a greater appreciation for the important role pollinators play in our food supply and our environment. Today, I maintain honeybee colonies in the Des Moines area and enjoy sharing the raw Iowa honey they produce.
My beekeeping journey also complements my work with Barrels Iowa. Rain barrels help conserve water and provide an excellent way for homeowners to grow flowers, gardens, and other plants that benefit bees and other pollinators.
I am proud to support pollinator education and am a member of the Central Iowa Beekeepers Association, where I have had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside other beekeepers who share a passion for protecting these important creatures.
For me, beekeeping is more than producing honey. It is about learning, conservation, and doing my part to care for the land and God's creation.
